Model 247B

Hotstick Line Sniffer

The Radar Engineers Model 247-B Hotstick Line Sniffer™ is purpose-built to locate and isolate gap-type discharges, including sparking that produces radio and television interference on overhead power lines. Using VHF detection to identify the general area of interference, crews can then precisely pinpoint defective hardware with highly directional ultrasonic sensing. This staged approach enables fast, confident identification of noise sources directly on the structure.

Fully self-contained and ready to mount on any standard hotstick via a universal adapter, the 247-B requires no headsets, external batteries, or auxiliary components. An integrated sounding horn provides immediate audible confirmation for verification and post-repair inspection. For initial pole identification over longer distances, complementary Radar Engineers locating instruments (such as the models 243 and M-331) are recommended prior to deploying the 247-B for close-range ultrasonic pinpointing.
